When you're busy like hell, apparently making covers for podfics can relax you.
Honestly.

Well, at least it relaxes me. Who needs to sleep, right? Sleep is totally overrated. I also made art for the BRBB, and I'm really excited. It's going to be so much fun!

Well, let's take a look at some covers. )

I'm afraid I'm forgetting a cover, but I can't seem to remember... =/

Have you ever had the kind of week that's so crazy and cruel you just want to curl up under a table and cry yourself to sleep? The kind of week where everything is horrible, people are especially stupid and you can't find a single reason to get out of bed?

That's not the kind of week I had. Last week was amazing. AMAZING.

I finally posted the second installment of my Mer!verse, The Taming of the Shrew. It was a lot of work, and without the help of my lovely, lovely betas [personal profile] cookie, [personal profile] jerakeen and [personal profile] akavertigo, the story would have been a lot worse. They've been so patient, so gracious, so supportive I don't know what I'd have done without them.

And then, to make the week even better, the lovely [livejournal.com profile] diane_mckay made a Podfic of Too Mer to Woo Peacebly! How lucky am I, really? The luckiest!!!

By now you all know how I think Podfics are kind of the best invention since the apparition of chocolate covered pretzels. I'm in awe of the work podficcers made, of all the care and the time they give us. A good reader brings out things in a fic that sometimes you pass over. They make fics alive in a way that allows you to savour the words, to really enjoy them in a new and different way.

I think we don't thank them enough for all the love and time they spend in their works. And that's why I decided to thank them, one artist at time.

Let me tell you about my crush on [livejournal.com profile] podklb. She's a true artist. Her voice is fantastic, and she has a way with her intonation that it's truly magic. She's also, one of the most consistent readers out there. Her work is so cohesive that it doesn't matter if parts of her work are weeks apart, you won't be able to notice it. It's truly gorgeous experience to hear her reading, because her cadence is mesmerizing and her voice is delicious. A joy to your soul.

I was so in awe with the work she made with [livejournal.com profile] passe_simple's Forever, Now that I made a cover for her Podbook of the story. She was pretty pleased with it, so I made her another one, the cover for her incredibly amazing Awesome Ladies Podfic Anthology. Before I knew it, I was amking her covers for almost everyone of her podfics to have them all shiny in my library, because I'm anal like that and she's gracious enough to let me play in her sandbox.

Well, she decided to post a cover everyday for a week ending with a masterpiece, her rendition of [livejournal.com profile] bexless's hilarious non-fic, This Never Happened. It's a terrific work, go and download it, and then tell [livejournal.com profile] podklb what a wonderful time you had with it, because let me assure you, you're going to spend three scrumptious hours with it. Trust me, you will.

I'm not going to bore you to tears with my rambling, so just let me show you what I've been doing lately, okay?

Her voice, my covers. )

So tell me, was it last week the best week ever, or what? I posted the fic, and people seemed to like it; I have [livejournal.com profile] diane_mckay's lovely Podfic of my Mer!verse to squee over, and there are Podfics covers all around!

I'm flailing like Gerard in an Arts Supply Store!

I think [personal profile] jerakeen had a fantastic idea: go back to those fics you've read but never left any feedback, and do it now. And then, post it here as a rec list.

Here they are.

Bandom:

* Conclusions by [livejournal.com profile] bexless. Frank/Gerard. Frank is Gerard's landlord. Gerard is Frank's lodger. They're meant to be.

It's a great story, amazing and engaging, and I can't recommend it more. It's long and satisfying, and I'm really ashamed because this is one of my top ten stories, in fact, and I can't believe I never left proper feedback for it.

* For a different view by [livejournal.com profile] impertinence. Rae/Mickey. Would My Chemical Romance change a lot if instead of a Ray they had a Rae?

I can't thank [personal profile] foursweatervests enough for recommending me this story. It's spot on, the guys are themselves, Rae is perfect, and the story is not only engaging and fantastic, but also manages to make you stop and think and that's not usual. I highly recommend it.

* What to expect by [livejournal.com profile] arsenicjade. Bob/Mickey. Alicia can't stay at home anymore, and Mickey has to take care of their little daughter alone. Bob is there for him.

No bad people in this story, just people. People that suffer, and make mistakes, and try to keep on breathing and living. So beautiful that it breaks your heart. Anything by [livejournal.com profile] arsenicjade is good, but this one is perfection.

The Graveyard Book.

* Of polaroids and hostel rooms by Flipperland. Silas/Nobody. It's time for Nobody to see the world.

This is a small fandom, but I liked the story very much. It's a beautiful love story, a tale of love and growth, and its imagery is gorgeous.

High School Musical.

* The other side of you by [livejournal.com profile] paperclipbitch. Chad/Ryan. How to be enemies, and then not, and then boyfriends and then not. Again.

I know nothing about HSM. In fact, I had to look at IMDB to know what the guys looked like. I just wanted to read something more from [livejournal.com profile] paperclipbitch, and decided to try this one and read it like an original fic. I enjoyed it, it's sweet and nice, with just a healthy dose of angst.

Glee.

* So here it is, here it goes by [livejournal.com profile] merle_p. Puck/Kurt. Puck doesn't like to share.

I loved this confused, angry, worried Puck, he's used to wanting things and never getting them. He didn't even know he wanted to keep Kurt until he looses him. It's a bittersweet story that I like a lot.

SGA:

* Hot pants by [livejournal.com profile] lallybroch. John/Rodney. Rodney's wearing Lorne's pants. John does not approve.

I adore this story, really, so fun and delicious. Jealous!John is an old favourite of mine, because he pouts so beautifully...Read it, it's delicious.

AI 7

* Woke up married by [livejournal.com profile] celli. David Cook/David Archuleta. Pretty self explanatory. Cook and Archie woke up married.

This is my guilty pleasure. This story is like chicken soup for me. I come back to it regularly, because it makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside, and I love it, and I'll love it until the day I die.

AI 8 Crossover.

* Bouquet by [livejournal.com profile] pensnest. Adam Lambert/Lance Bass. Adam thinks Lance is an asshole, but a hot asshole. He would totally tap that.

At the beginning the only thing in common the guys have is that they're both gay. In the end, they have a lot more, but they're not ready to admit it. I can't believe I didn't leave the author any feedback! The story is refreshing and it feels plausible, you can spend a lovely afternoon reading it. The outtakes are great.

AI 8.

* This evening's empire by [livejournal.com profile] moirariordan. Adam Lambert/Kris Allen. Kris is a pretty, pretty princess prince. Adam is his suitor.

God, this story pushes all my buttons and I love it to pieces. Fantastic work, and all the characters are delicious.

Now I'm waiting for all your stories, guys, come on, what are you waiting for?
